The Swansea Police Department serves the community by protecting citizens and property, preventing crime, enforcing laws, and maintaining order. Preservation of life and community service is our constant mandate.
The Swansea Police Department provides 24-hour emergency service to its citizens, 365 days a year. The force is comprised of 21 full-time sworn officers, three of which serve as detectives. Officers are certified in firearms, Taser, self-defense, defensive driving, hazardous materials, blood borne pathogens, CPR/First Aid, and much more.
The lobby is always open for citizens and each citizen will be assisted by one of our six 9-1-1 telecommunicators within our dispatch center. Each telecommunicator is trained in emergency medical dispatch, L.E.A.D.S., hazardous materials, and TTY. The telecommunicators dispatch police, fire, and ambulance services for Swansea residents.
The main goal of the Swansea Police Department is to create and maintain a safe, secure environment for all citizens. We strive to accomplish this goal through proactive community programs designed to prevent crime, as well as efficient, thorough investigations of crimes committed.
