Gary Reuter
Detective Sergeant
Gary Reuter joined the Swansea Police Department in October 2016 after serving 9 1/2 years with the Millstadt Police Department. While serving with the Millstadt Police Department, he became a certified crisis intervention officer, juvenile officer, and was a member of ILEAS Mobile Field Force. Officer Reuter was also assigned to the K9 unit while employed with the Millstadt Police Department, where he served with his K9 partner Ace.
Upon Officer Reuter's hiring with the Swansea Police Department, he was assigned to the patrol division. Within a year, Officer Reuter was assigned to the Investigations division, where he served as a detective for approximately 5 years. During that time Gray Reuter served on the Major Case Squad of Greater Saint Louis and Child Death Task Force. In 2019, Detective Reuter received the Medal of Valor in reference to the apprehension of an armed violent offender. On May 2, 2022 Detective Reuter was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and served as a patrol commander with the night shift. On July 31, 2023 Detective Reuter was assigned to serve as the Detective Sergeant over the Investigations Unit.
